Sauna Heaters

  Material   |  Wood   |  Heaters   |  Floors   |  Ventilation   |  Size

Electric and wood-burning heaters are the most common methods of heating a sauna. Electric heaters are easy to install and are usually less expensive then wood burning heaters. They are also inexpensive to operate, simple to use, require no chimney and create no pollution.

Most electric heaters operate on 240-volt, which is available in most modern homes. Make sure to consult a licensed electrician.

A wood burning heater is heats the sauna slower and requires more effort to keep heated. Wood burning heaters are ideal in places where wood is plentiful or there is no other form of energy.

Sauna Rocks
A large supply of a suitable rock or stone is as important to the sauna as the heater itself. It is the rocks that will determine how nice the heat is and give off a continuous soft, gentle and even heat. Without any rocks at all, every sauna heater would produce a harsh and burning type of heat that is similar to broiling and very uncomfortable.

Rocks will absorb and store heat when the heat is being made. They will give heat off when the heater is not on, maintaining a more constant temperature.
